About Hong Kong Post Tracking
Hong Kong Post is the department of the Hong Kong government responsible for postal services, although it operates as a commercial fund. The Post Office was established in 1841 and was known as the Post Office (Chinese: 郵政署) before being handed over to Hong Kong in 1997. The Chinese Post is a branch of the Hong Kong Post and is responsible for postal services in Hong Kong.
Back in the day, before the British showed up and took over in 1842, there were already a bunch of merchants trading stuff back and forth across Victoria Harbour. But apparently there were no good postal services so these businessmen would constantly complain. As a result of the increasing demand for postal services, the Department of Posts was established.
On August 28, 1841, this department was founded and the first post is located near the current site of St. John’s Cathedral, which opened on November 12, 1841. Royal Mail, until it was transferred to the Postmaster General on 1 May 1860.
As of 2007, there were a total of 129 post offices in Hong Kong, including 34 on Hong Kong Island, 42 in Kowloon, 45 in the New Territories, and 8 on the outer islands. In addition, two mobile post offices provide postal services to remote areas.
